A place that feels familiar to us may be changing quickly for birds. A tree removed, a wetland drained or a busy migration stop altered can change the resources available to them.
Habitat loss, changing climate, collisions and other pressures can affect birds across their lives. A migratory bird depends on safe places to feed and rest along its entire journey.
Protecting local habitat, reducing avoidable disturbance and supporting conservation are meaningful starting points. Start by learning which birds share the places you visit and which local groups are working to protect those places.
Give birds space when you watch them. Follow access guidance, keep away from nests and leave the places you explore as you found them.
